Animal Handler and Environmental Educator for a mobile zoo needed. Come play with our animals and earn money at the same time! Looking for a committed, experienced employee for a very part time position (5-16 hours/week, plus more as needed), at a private facility in East Olympia. We house exotic and domestic animals that are part of a traveling educational zoo. Check us out at curious-critters.org. We have hedgehogs, goats, snakes, cockroaches, mini pigs, and many others that you will get to pet or even cuddle! You can learn about all aspects of their care, including veterinary care. You will travel with the primary Educator in the company vehicle to various nearby locations for events, birthday parties, and classes. Assist in packing up, guiding trailer, set-up, clean-up, supervision of participants, handling and supervising animals, instruction, and interpretation. No overnights needed.

When we don’t have shows you will also help with animal husbandry and maintenance: feeding, preparing diets, exercising, cleaning, fence repair, maintenance, gardening, weeding, construction, mucking stalls, shoveling, moving compost, restraining animals, assisting in animal training, any other projects as needed.

You will be REQUIRED to work up to 8 hours on most Saturdays and Sundays. You will be asked to work up to 8 hours on some weekdays, with advanced notice. Only 5 hours/week is guaranteed, plus more hours when extra help is needed.

Animal husbandry experience with exotic or farm animals is required. Experience in a non-work capacity is acceptable, such as with exotic pets. Environmental education experience preferred. Must be comfortable and have experience with small children.

Opportunities for advancement, if you have a mind for business. Ages 18 and up, must be responsible and able to work independently at times. Must be able to lift 75 pounds, push/pull 200 pounds, bend, kneel, use hands and arms, step over a 2’ barrier, walk on uneven ground, work in all weather, and work in dusty, dirty conditions.
